SWM {CE} #11: Play-by-Post

Instructions

The play by post will begin after the last post in the Remnants of the Sith thread. I will prompt you there and include the duplicate posts here so that you understand where you begin and when you can start posting. You don't actually need to read the Remanants story if you read the play by post, I will update that accordingly as the story progresses.

For directions on the map, up is always North.

Once the postings have been done a picture of the current events from the Vassal Map will be posted with GM instructions on the go ahead and you can post what your character is doing/thinking/his turn. Include as much detail as you feel necessary when posting.

Throughout the campaign make sure to post what your character is thinking. Also ensure to post some background information as well.

The Cantina Talk will be left open for conversations between your characters if you want.

I will also post as GM from time to time explaining events and what to do if required. These will be highlighed in the Subject Line with a Post Icon of a Note as well as a notification of "GM Instructions"

Finally, maps without the A-Z and 1-32 movement from square to square is not relevant. Maps that require encounters and combat will have some instructions that follow as well.

Combat will be explained in the post below.

Re: SWM {CE} #11: Play-by-Post

Narra Bril wrapped his cloak around him as he departed his one man fighter down the ramp towards the dry cracked red stone desert ground. He hunched together as the hot, arid winds whipped his cloak up swept dirt sand and grit all around. The landscape reminded the young Twi’lek somewhat of the Jutland Wastes of Tatooine where rocky cliffs and outcroppings protruded for miles. If it wasn’t for the large stone and possibly even Durasteel columns protruding the sky in between the large canyon perhaps it could be Tatooine all over.

Even still, Narra strongly disliked the landscape. It was supposed to be reminiscent of the Valley of the Sith Lords on Korriban and although he had never traveled there thankfully this canyon did stretch for what seemed like forever and did bring a harrowing reminder of the stomping grounds of the mighty Sith that were making a case to rule the galaxy it seemed.

Narra braved the winds and pulled out his Macro Binoculars spanning the wasteland in an hundred and eighty degree arc. Near one of the columns to the South about two thousand meters away stood two figures in dark robes. As he zoomed in he say the cloaks appeared onyx black. Great, he murmured to himself - it appears the rumours were true. His accomplices on this mission would be Sith indeed.

Narra tucked his Macrobinoculars back into his utility belt and taking no chances activated the power cell on his Vibroblade, readying the humming blade in his right hand. His Flamethrower hung loosely slung around his shoulders and he trekked towards the two Sith who were standing waiting next to a large column. Narra observed the sides of the Canyon. The distance between the two sides spanned perhaps several hundred meters. The area was covered with debris, rock formations and craggy outlines. Some excavating had been done into the sides. It seems a total replication of the Valley of the Sith was being re-created here and it gave Narra a chill only that of deep space could replicate. Despite the dry, arid almost inhospitable heat, Narra shuddered and felt frozen cold as the evils of the dark lords of the galaxy seemed to permeate through him from this dry, desolate and remote planet.

Re: SWM {CE} #11: Play-by-Post

Narra approached the group of two eyeing the two Sith lords with a cautious apprehension. His hand clenched tightly around his Vibroblade. He was ready for anything. The closest Sith leaned against the pillar his hood obstructing his face but Narra could see an evil twisted smile as the Sith seemed already two steps ahead of him and was considering what could only be something nefarious Narra decided. Narra swallowed hard. He hated being here but credits were credits and for this trip alone he was being handsomely paid.

Suddenly and without warning the Sith moved with a speed that caught Narra by surprise and ignited a blood red Lightsaber as he used the pillar for momentum to force himself forward and brought his Lightsaber down in a arcing flash as Narra reactively brought his Vibroblade up catching the blow hearing the blade hum as the two met a couple of feet from his face.

The Sith was grinning now with an eye that showed both hatred and enjoyment and Narra tried to mask his fear and hoped the Sith wouldn’t notice his shaking hands that were both now holding his Vibroblade instinctively tight enough to cause his knuckles to ache.

The Sith in front of Narra grimaced in what could only be hate and pushed towards Narra hard with his Lightsaber catching Narra off guard. Narra’s foot caught a small rock wedged behind him and he lost his balance hitting the ground hard kicking up sand, dirt and rock but also dislodging this Vibroblade out of his hands as he fought to catch his balance.

Before he could react the blood red blade hummed inches from his face and Narra froze in sheer terror.

Suddenly a voice echoed out among a cavern against the long side of canyon wall. “Enough” the dark demonic voice revorborated along the harmonics created by the large canyon.

The Sith smiled a crooked, evil smile at Narra and obediently disengaged his blade. Narra’s hands pressed against the ground palms down as he lay in a defensive position trying to push himself up. The Sith in front of him took a few steps away and Narra heard him whisper, “You are lucky you are not dead, Twi’lek”

Exiting the cavern against the canyon wall was another Sith. That made three of them. Narra stood up and dusted himself off noticing the other Sith hadn’t moved and was still leaning against a pillar seemingly disinterested in all of this. Narra coughed, then reached down and grabbed his vibroblade clutching it in his hand hoping he wouldn’t have to rely on it again.

“Narra Bril, meet Liff Ayen.” The dark figure said as he stood arms crossed just outside the comfort of the dark cavern.

He made a motion towards the pillar, “That is Dak Uplon.”

Re: SWM {CE} #11: Play-by-Post

The Sith’s voice made Narra’s Lekku tremble as it cut through him like a Lightsaber itself – dark and ominous and unmistakeably evil.

“Liff and Dak, meet Narra Bril. Narra will be your arms dealer. He will ensure you are well equipped and also deal with any arms issues you may come across. I have paid handsomely for his assistance so you will ensure his safety.” The last few words cut the air hard like a strong forceful blow.

“We don’t need his help. He will slow us down. He will be a detriment” said Liff, the one that challenged him.

The other Sith still was contemplating something Narra could tell.

“You will obey my orders, young one his survival is imperative to our successes, do I make myself clear?” Again, added emphasis was put on the final word that again made Narra shudder. Hopefully he would not have to meet this Sith Lord again.

“Yes, Master” Liff responded in irritation. “If this mission fails, it will not be on me” he added.

Finally, the one named Dak moved, “Speaking of which, we have been told to come here by your request. You have called for us after months of communication through liasons. You have told us you were going to bring the Sith back to dominance and you mention a mission yet we have no information on it. What exactly is this mission? How do you plan to bring back the Sith to galactic dominance with the careful and watchful eye of the growing Republic and Jedi?”

Dak’s voice sounded like that of the sceptic to Narra. Narra felt a little more at ease and decided to attach his vibroblade back onto his belt. Then the Sith Lord clad in black responded.

Patience” the voice echoed in a truly dark and somber voice.

“All things will come to pass in time. Surely you recognize this canyon re-creation?” the Sith Lord asked.

“Yes – it is a replication of the Valley of the Sith Lords on Korriban” responded Liff. “I visited it many times on Korriban.”

No!” the voice answered suddenly and forcefully. Narra could sense the irritiation in the Sith Lord’s tone and he caught the condescendence and surprise in the voice of Liff. Even Dak seemed caught off guard.

Narra didn’t know much about the Sith. What he had learned he had only done so in the last few weeks with a few questions of other Traders and members of the guild once he learned he had been conscripted by them for his latest mission. The Sith had been dormant for years but suddenly rose to power under two Dark Lords named Revan and Malak and nearly defeated the Republic and Jedi. Rumor had it that Malak attempted to kill Revan and Revan joined the Jedi but that was all speculation. Revan did however disappear and Malak was left to fend against the Jedi but was defeated in the battle of the Star Forge that wiped the Sith armada out. Shortly after, Narra learned that the Jedi staged an assault of Korriban wiping out the Valley of the Sith and the main training and recruiting facility of the Sith. It apparently rivalled that of the bombing of Taris which still brought a shudder to the Twi’lek. It was a shame all those innocent people died and made Narra honestly question why he was going through with this mission.

The trouble was that when the Sith contacted you, you had little choice but to obey. Many hoped that they would never be contacted but if you were chosen, it was like being chosen by the Hutts. Either you obey, or you find yourself splattered all over a cantina or fed to Rancor. It was seemingly both a blessing and a curse. Narra also couldn’t turn at the lucrative credits being offered. He badly needed to pay back some debts to clear his name.

Re: SWM {CE} #11: Play-by-Post

The cutting, evil and demonic voice of the Sith Lord cut into his train of thought, “Fool! This is the true Valley of the Sith Lords!”

The words cut absolute fear into the three of them. Suddenly it seemed that all sound stopped. The wind died. The heat disappated and all that was left was the three of them in oblivion.

“Korriban was a falsification of this great Sith monument! This is where the True Sith reigned! This is where Junta Restin and Garek Mask created the True Sith. It was them that were the true innovators of the Dark Side. They were betrayed by the exiles Ajunta Pall, XoXaan and Karness Murr. Even Naga Sadow, Ludo Kressh and Marka Ragnos cannot claim to be Sith. This is where the order began. This is where the birth of the Sith happened. This is where the dead spirits lay to rest waiting to be awoken and to bring terror to the galaxy – true terror. Not the pathetic attempts by Revan and Malak could satiate what a true Sith brings.”

Liff Ayen and Dak Uplon could have been hypnotized they were so driven by the speech of what could only be a madman. Narra trembled in fear nonetheless and was hanging by every word.

“We will bring the True Sith back to prosperity. The Sith will reign again!” the Dark Sith Lord shouted and the words re-verberated down the mile long canyon.

Finally he continued. “It is time to start that rebuilding process. Liff and Dak, you two will be the first recruits into the True Sith order. You two will show the light to those that are lost. You two will be the judge and jury. You two will slaughter the weak. You will convert the Jedi to our cause and annihilate the false Sith that remain. You will bring terror and destruction to the galaxy.”

The Dark Lord raised both arms in the sky. His hands were gray and wrinkled, his fingers long and bony. Electricity started to form around his hands as he held them wide in the sky and he raised his head aloud, “The True Sith are reborn and their Remnants will rule the galaxy!” A large cloud of purplish Lightning formed between his hands and exploded into the sky in a massive burst. Lightning slammed into the three of them knocking Narra to the ground but catching and enveloping the other two Sith. Dak and Liff screamed aloud as the lightning enveloped them coursing through their convulsing bodies. Finally the Lightning exploded again disappating into the hot, arid air and dark gray luminous clouds formed above in the sky as thunder rolled across the horizon.

The stench of burning ozone flooded the sense of Narra. He again found himself dazed and laying on the ground, dust clouds rising around him. He coughed several times and noticed black char on his right hand and up his arm as it convulsed. Both Dak and Liff lay on the ground their bodies still convulsing from the after effects of the lightning.

The Sith Lord had calmed now. His arms were still folded. Then he spoke, “You will travel to what was once Taris. You will scour what was once the undercity and city remains. You will locate a disease known as Rakghouls and you will bring a sample of their blood here. You will also locate the Rakghoul Serum and bring that as well. Do I make myself clear?”

There was no response. Both Sith were still laying on the ground murmuring and moaning.

“A transport waits west of here. The Pilot will take you to Taris. He is familiar with the planet although he knows nothing of its destruction. He grew up there. He will assist you in finding the Rakghouls and the Serum. You will ensure his safety as well. Finally, you will not be needing these. The Jedi cannot be tipped off of our existence"

The Dark Lord's arms opened and the Lightsabers of Dak and Liff hovered through the air to the Dark Lord who caught them in his hands.

The Dark Lord then turned and return back into the cavern from which he came and said one final sentence, “You will not fail me.”

Re: SWM {CE} #11: Play-by-Post

Nerra, dazed from the lightning attack, stands up. "I never knew the power of the Sith was like this, but at least the credits are good. I may have to put up with him for the moment, but not these two." Nerra thought to himself. He shifts his gaze towards the two Sith still writing on the ground. "Look how the mighty have fallen! They are so weak! They probably can't even stand up to the slightest physical pain." He then eyes Liff Ayen with an dark gaze. This one may have gotten the upper hand on me in the beginning, but now he is helpless. The Sith said for those two to make sure I am kept safe, but he never gave me any orders to keep them safe from harm. Nerra pulls out his Flamethrower. "This should finish his miserable life right now!" As Nerra considers pulling the trigger and flaming the Dark Jedi's body, he begins to feel a pang of guilt at how ruthless he has become. "Is this really the Twilek that I grew up as?" he questions himself. "If experience has taught me anything, it is that scum like this deserve to die, or else I might regret it latter on." Nerra, noticeably troubled by these dark thoughts racing through his mind, slowly lowers his Flamethrower. "This is against my better judgment, but I will let him live." Nerra sighs and slings his Flamethrower back onto his shoulder. Taking out a few med pacs from his pocket and applies them to Dak and Liff.

"Next time one of these Dark Jedi's pulls a lightsaber on me, he will have to answer to my Flamethrower at close range. We'll just see how quickly they can recover when engulfed in flames." Nerra laughs to himself at the thought. As Dak and Liff begin to recover from the shock of the lightning blast, Nerra crouches down and speaks to DAk and Liff. "We best start going. I wouldn't want to see what our new Sith Lord would do if you we late in getting the Rakghoul disease. Get up! We should make our way to the ship as soon as possible. I have some supplies in mind that we should acquire at the next spaceport we land in that should help us find what we are looking for."

Pulling out his Macrobinoculars, he scans the terrain to the west. He spots the freighter that they must board.

"Great," Nerra thinks to himself. "Just what have I gotten myself into now....."
