New Character Race: Whiphid
Hey Folks,
I had a player wanting to play a Whiphid in my upcoming SWM CE game, and since I didn't see an official one, I whipped (hehe) this one up. I figured I would share in case other people were interested. I think it seems balanced, but I'd be more than happy to have some feedback on it.
Whiphid
Whiphids are a large bipedal species with thick fur which protects them from the harsh climate of their frigid homeworld of Toola. Whiphid society is tribal and considered primitive by the Galaxy at large. Whiphids are nomadic hunters and they live for the hunt and the thrill of the kill. Many Whipids chose to leave their tribe and Toola behind in search of lucrative careers as soldiers, mercenaries, or bounty hunters.
Benefits: A Whiphid of any class gains +2 Attack at 1st Level and increases it's Attack Caps by 2 at all levels. A Whiphid character can choose one Associated Feat at 1st Level for free; the feat still counts toward the character's Cost.
Racial Benefits: None.
Restrictions: A Whiphid takes a -4 penalty to Defense at 1st Level and reduces all Defense Caps by 4. A Whiphid takes a -2 penalty to Attribute Points at 1st-Level.
Associated Feats: Ambush, Cunning Attack +10, Mighty Swing, Momentum, Stable Footing, Stealth

Looks fine to me. Don't know about the -4 on defense though. Makes him a bit of a glass canon right from the start and that could be a major bum.
If you really want to make him that fragile, I'd suggest giving him a Hit Points bonus, or at least a Hit Points Cap expansion. And maybe Close Quarters-Fighting as an associated feat.
Other than that, this one looks pretty fun to play, especially because of the attack boost :3

I was worried about the defense myself. The reason I went with -4 on defense was because of the Wookie. Whiphids and Wookies are both larger species in Star Wars lore, so I figured that lowered defense represented their size and ease to be hit. But Wookies get the bonus HP to compensate. If its a little much, I can tone it down, maybe -2 Defense at first level and to caps. That might be a bit better balanced. Trandoshans get +2 Atk, but -2 defense as well as regeneration. The AP penalty should balance out the Whiphids flexibility in having more feat options from its associated feats.

I will look into this in a few days.
I don't have my laptop with me but I we had drawn up stats for other races that haven't yet been developed in game.
I'll see if we did Whipid and if not I'll analyze this.
